Gstaad’s Alina Kohli delivered an outstanding performance at the Swiss Kickboxing Championships in Bern. Despite it being her very first competition in this discipline, the young athlete managed to outshine her competitors and claim the championship title.

15-year-old Alina Kohli participated in the Swiss Kickboxing Championships for the first time. The event in Bern provided the stage for her debut. Competing in the “Kick Light Juniors” category, the young athlete impressed with her skills and, according to her coach Cüneyt Günes, dominated her opponents with confidence.
The term “rookie” refers to an athlete who is new to a sport and showcasing their skills for the first time. This was exactly the role Alina Kohli took on – but despite her lack of experience in the competitive scene, she demonstrated her technical ability. She managed to defeat three opponents and secure the highly sought-after title of “Swiss Kickboxing Champion” in her age and weight class.
Surprise Victory After a Short Training Period
Kohli only began her kickboxing journey six months ago. Under the guidance of her coach Cüneyt Günes, she was prepared for the competition in a very short time. This was a remarkable difference compared to her opponents, who, according to Günes, had been active in the sport for over four years and brought significantly more experience into the championship.
“It is rare for a ‘rookie’ to win the title in their very first championship,” Günes explained excitedly after the competition. “Alina’s success proves how much potential she has and how well she prepared for this moment.”
Despite her relatively short preparation period and the fact that she only trains once a week, Kohli surprised everyone – including herself. “I really didn’t expect to win. It was my very first competition, and my main goal was to gain experience,” she said after her victory.
Following this first success, the young athlete is determined to continue improving and further develop her skills in kickboxing. The other athletes from the Gstaad Kickboxing Club also performed well at the championship, delivering consistently impressive results.
